OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, expressed excitement about being in Japan, highlighting the country’s history of technology and innovation. Tadao Nagasaki has been appointed as the President of OpenAI Japan to lead commercial and market engagement efforts. As part of its commitment to the region, OpenAI is providing local businesses with early access to a Japanese-language optimized version of the GPT-4 model. The custom model offers improved performance and operates up to three times faster than its predecessor. Japanese corporations and local governments are already utilizing ChatGPT for improved efficiency. Additionally, Microsoft recently announced a $2.9 billion investment in Japan to expand its cloud computing and AI infrastructure.
