Google’s parent company, Alphabet, is reportedly in advanced discussions to acquire cybersecurity startup Wiz for approximately $23 billion. The potential deal would be Google’s biggest-ever acquisition and a significant move into the cybersecurity sector. Wiz specializes in cybersecurity software for cloud computing and recently raised $1 billion from venture capital investors. While terms of the deal have not been finalized and talks could still collapse, the acquisition of Wiz would be a substantial investment by Google in the cybersecurity space and a competitive move against Microsoft and Amazon.
