Visitors to New Mexico United’s home games may have noticed that the 35-foot tall video scoreboard in Isotopes Park has a new sponsor.

The Herb Taxi is the first cannabis delivery service based in Albuquerque to partner with the Soccer Team.

Monte Skarsgard is the owner of The Herb Taxi. He has worked with United before through his Skarsgard Farms company. It was therefore a natural move to bring this new venture to the United team.

United had to first get approval from both the United Soccer League and Minor League Baseball due to its connection with the Isotopes.

Skarsgard stated that it took some time to establish a partnership with the company.

Skarsgard stated that he had not personally heard of any feedback regarding the sponsorship. However, the web traffic for the company has increased since United's home opener on April 15th.

Skarsgard responded that there is no way to minimize the stigma surrounding cannabis. He cited the NBA's recent decision to allow cannabis use by players under a new contract. The MLB, NHL and NFL do not ban cannabis use.

Skarsgard hopes to pursue sponsorship opportunities in local sports programs.
