Looking Back on a Downbeat Week for Stocks

The Dow industrials and the S&P 500 experienced their worst weekly performance in a while. The S&P is down from late-March highs, while the Dow is off its late-March record. The Nasdaq fell for the week but held up better than the other indices. There were signs of fear returning to the stock market as the VIX jumped to its highest level since October. However, the volatility index remains relatively low compared to long-term standards.
